Reflection 73 – A Wedding, A Funeral, & An Ayah!

The One Thing That Overpowers Us ALL!
A couple of days ago while I was going through my Facebook news feed, I had a video come up. Then, when I opened the video in a separate tab, FB automatically spits other videos. Anyhow, this new video opened for someone sitting with his wife in the program of Isaad Younis talking about their wedding (I have no idea who he is!). At any rate, he was very happy talking about how in his wedding at one single point in time he had on the stage four famous singers: Amr Diab, Tamer Hosny, Mustafa Amar, and Hameed ElShaaery. In that specific part, it was Hameed mainly doing the singing while being clearly overjoyed! Then, the video ends, and another one opens; it’s Hameed again but this time crying and looking pretty miserable.
This video was taken during the burial of another famous singer – Alaa Abdel Khaleq-, who shared with Hameed lots of memories together. But it really hit me hard! Just a moment ago, I was watching him singing with a huge crowd around him displaying all signs of happiness on a fancy stage, and now I see him crying and grieving with a relatively small number of friends and relatives attending the burial site surrounded by sand and dust. I said to myself: Sobhan Allah!! The one thing that overpowers us all: DEATH. Regardless of whether you‘re rich or poor, strong or weak, famous or not, we will all end up in the same way. Alone beneath the ground! Then, it just happened that day that I was reading suret elAn3aam, and I came across this ayah:
وَهُوََ ٱلْقَاهِرَُ فَوْقََ عِبَادِهَۦِ وَيُرْسِلَُ عَلَيْكَُمَْ حَفَظَة حَتَّ ىَ إِذَا جَا ءََ أَحَدَكُمَُ ٱلْمَوْتَُ تَوَفَّتْهُ رُسُلُنَا وَهُمَْ لََ يُفَ رطُونَ The first part of it clearly says that Allah is the one who OVERPOWERS all his creation. Death should serve as a huge reminder for all of us that we are in fact powerless. We don‘t get to choose when we die, nor can we do anything to change this eminent fact. One last related story before we go.
Probably all of us were horrified to see the tragic accident that took place in Madinty, where a guy ran over with his car a whole family because of a silly dispute killing the mother and hurting others. If we were to go back in time and penetrate that woman‘s mind as she was stepping out of her house to see what was going on. Do you think, there was any small percentage, that she thought this would be her last minutes?! I very much doubt! And most probably most of us will not get any prior notification before our death. It would simply happen.
May Allah have mercy on us and يرزقنا حسن الخاتمة .
